Cambodia Town, Inc. Announces the Virtual 12th Annual Cambodia Town Parade and Culture Festival

Cambodia Town, Inc. will be virtually hosting the 12th Annual Cambodia Town parade and Cultural Festival on
Sunday, September 27th, 2020, at 10:00 AM. The public is warmly invited to join the celebration via our online platforms: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Cambodiatown.com. We sincerely hope to see everyone there to help us celebrate the rich culture and traditions of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Commencing at 10:00 AM PST, we will kick off the virtual celebration with a parade to showcase the diverse
cultures in our community. This year we will honor the Art of Apsara. Apsaras are celestial dancers whose
fame statues are depicted on the walls of the ancient Khmer temple Angkor Wat (a UNESCO World Heritage
Site) in Cambodia. Viewers will be dazzled by the sights and sounds of various groups of participants dressed up
in mesmerizing authentic Apsara’s regalia from head to toes gracefully accentuate delicate hand gestures.

The celebration continues with the virtual Cambodia Town Cultural Festival. The festival will exhibit unique art
forms from Cambodia’s rich and ancient culture. Local Cambodian artisans and cultural bearers will share their
expertise through virtual demonstrations. “This is one of my favorite events in the City of Long Beach”, said
Vice-Mayor Dee Andrews. “It offers a window into the magnificent culture that makes the Cambodian
community so vibrant and respected”, continued Councilman Andrews.

Among the arts and cultural virtually exhibits will be Cambodian classical dance and costuming, shadow
puppets, traditional music, musical instruments, colorful textiles, exquisite wedding gowns and accessories,
cooking, romvong contest, and modern music.

The virtual Cambodia Town parade and Cultural Festival is made possible in part by funding from Long Beach
Vice-Mayor Dee Andrews, Long Beach Councilman Daryl Supernaw, Port of Long Beach, Arts Council for
Long Beach and Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hanh, Edison International and Channy Real Estate-
Re/Max.
